Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata is an injury doubt after missing training and could miss the next two games against Hearts and AEK Athens, according to the Scottish Sun.
The newspaper ส โบ เบ็ ต revealed on their website that the 27-year-old defender had been complaining of a back injury just weeks after returning from this summer’s World Cup finals.
His absence for the double header of important matches could be a major blow for Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers, who is already running short in resources at the back.
Celtic’s defensive star was the subject of a move from Premier League new boys Fulham before the failed bid to the London club.
OPINION Boyata played a key role in the heart of the Celtic defence last season but is likely to miss the Hoops’ ส โบ เบ็ ต league tie against Hearts before a crucial European match with AEK Athens. Celtic only managed a 1-1 draw against their Greek opponents in the first leg and, if the club are to qualify for the Champions League play-offs, would have preferred to have the Belgian defender fit for the away tie. After an impressive World Cup with Belgium, Boyata has proved to be a top class defender and will be wished by the Celtic supporters in making a speedy recovery. Defensive options are low at Parkhead and Rodgers has not got a great deal of players to choose from. Marvin Compper and Cristian Gamboa also sat out training, while new signing Emilio Izaguirre is not yet match fit. Kristoffer Ajer is also suspended for the trip to Greece leaving Rodgers with very little to work with over the next couple of games. ส โบ เบ็ ต
